What's new

8/8 Friodur in Thuya Burl

I had a hell of a time with this one. As with alot of Friodurs, this one had a bent tang, finally got it though. Spent more time pinning it than making the scales.

Scales: Thuya Burl w/ Black Liner (This wood has a TON of depth)
Finish: CA
Wedge: Ivory Micarta
Pins: Nickel Silver with brass and stainless washers

Not sure why one would use oil with CA. The finish I used was just CA, 12 coats. What type of CA are you using. Look for "Hot Stuff" at Woodcraft. It is very thin and you apply it in thin coats sanding smooth every 4 coats. I need to do a tutorial on this at some point.

Please do a tutorial. I tried CA without oil and it came out OK just messy but when I went to Woodcraft, their Pen expert there said that he uses hot linseed oil and CA.

I'm heading there tomorrow to pick up a couple things and will look for it.

I must say that this razor looks even more stunning in person than it does in pictures.

This one will be a jewel in my collection for many years to come. Many thanks to Aquanin for the outstanding work on making this razor something special.

I think I'm gonna go shave now
