$72 for a Blue lady?

This seller has a very large following and super nice razors with great photos. They always get top prices. They put the time into it and are rewarded. Also the going prices on nice razors have been going up every month it seems.

I got one from Sluggo this week for $20something....a very nice dark blue lady...I should send Sluggo some 'Lectric shave or something for the great deal!!:wink2:

It looks in superb condition and comes with a nice box.
That said, I paid substantially less on ebay for a very good condition Gillette lady blue razor+birth year slim adjustable+red tip superspeed (admittedly with one end plate missing).

It depends what you're willing to spend your money on and how high you're prepared to go.

Ha! I think that's one I was bidding on, and got out-bid very very early. Sad part is, all I realy wanted was the lady gillette, for my wife. The SS adjustable and the red tip were just "extra". Still would have used them, but the lady gillette was the excuse I used to SWMBO to justify bidding. :001_smile

They don't make them anymore, it's in great shape and a new EJ ladies razor is over $100 with plastic handle.

I don't think the price is too high. You are getting something well made that is going to last (it's already over 40 years as it is). People are just hoping to get it for a steal since its discontinued. Doesn't work that way sometimes.

All that being said, what do you think would happen if that same razor was offered at the same price on the b/s/t ? just saying

I don't think it's too much compared to what I was going to purchase to begin with and it's still a better product. But compared to what it could go for to begin with it could be considered too much.

But vintage razors are selling pretty well from what I can gather at BB so the price is going to go up anyways but again, it's a quality vintage not a Parker.

Sorry CongoChris.
I was actually after the slim (which I've subsequently had replated as it was not in fantastic shape and I really wanted it as it was manufactured in the same quarter of the year that I was born in).

..However I've given the lady Gillette to my wife and she likes it otherwise I'd let you have it.

All good and valid points IMHO....I'll throw this in the mix....they are fairly plentiful....and can be found in very nice condition in the $20-30 range sans case....would most of us pay double and change for a cased minty one?? (any vintage razor for that matter)...depending on the model and what YOU want...most likely. All in all...I'm thinking it's not a crazy price (and I was initially thinking it was). If I was looking for something special for the wife, brother, etc... I would pay a little extra to get THE one. Well done!:thumbup1:
(just my non expert opinions of course..by no means fact!)

Good points, and if the minty ones go for top dollar while the user grades stay more reasonable, then I say hats off to the collectors for preserving history while my wife and I shave with it.

Box? Check.

Blades? Check.

Leaflet? Check.

Razor? Check.

Collectible? Check.

Not surprised by the price, really.

Razor that are complete and well presented always command a premium price.
With the true collector is all about condition and it looks like the buyer got a bargain.
If you take crappy out of focus pictures you're not going to get this kind of action on your auction.
But if you take the time to do things right you'll be rewarded.
