'48-50 SS What a great shave

Last week I picked up a ’48-’50 SS. After getting it cleaned I finally had a chance to try it out this morning. All I can say is WOW! Now granted, this is only the second DE razor I have tried. But what a great shave.

I loaded it with a Red Persona which already had a few shaves on it. Lathered with ARKO. The best way to describe the shave was “Buttery” The razor was well balanced and a little heavier than my TV Special, the grip felt very good in my hand.

After 3 passes (WTG, XTG, ATG) the razor left me with the closest, smoothest shave I have had to date. I think this will be my new go to razor.

Awesome! That is much like my first experience with my 48-50 SS. I think gillette nailed the design for the SS there, and could have stopped tinkering with it.

Congrats on the pickup, they are indeed a great razor.

I agree that Gillette had it right with that SS. Not that the ft is bad at all, but the 40s style really just handles like a dream.

Congratulations!

Mine is beautiful indeed, but I got some irritation with it (used with a Feather) and it's now put aside. I'll have to try it again with another blade (Red Personna seems OK).

Great razors, such a mild shave :D

Feathers have gave me irritation in a few razors :)

The 40s Superspeed is the razor that got me hooked on DE shaving. I can still count on it when looking for a comfortable, effortless BBS shave. New shavers seem to be enamored with the Giilette adjustables, but in my experience, it is easier to get great sults with a Superspeeds.

Yes the 40s style Super Speed is nimble with a great feeling handle, excellent experience for most folks and solidly built.

Congrats.
