2010 NBA Playoffs

Are any of you guys watching the playoffs this year? Seems like there ought to be a thread in the clubhouse for the NBA fans who like to shave :biggrin1:

Being an LA man, I am rooting for the Lakers this year, and was happy to see them wake up last night and trounce the OKC Thunder. If the Lakers can maintain that sort of focus and intensity, I'm sure there will be a good many exciting games ahead this postseason. I'm totally impressed by the Thunder's efforts as a team, and their individual players work ethic and raw talent. They're going to be the team to watch next season...

So have at it, fellers. What do you think of the postseason so far? Any predictions and favorites?

Hawks fan here and pretty disappointed that we dropped both road games. We have won something like 15 straight at home and I am confident that we will get out of this round, but to have a chance against the Magic we need to show up on the road.
As for the rest of the Playoffs...LA is still the team to beat in the West(and overall too) in my mind, but Dallas has looked really good at points this post season. Cleveland(which I don't like) should take the East, but we will see how bad Jame's elbow is and if it limits him at all or throws off his shot.

I try to support the Thunder but it's really hard. I'm still pretty heart-broken over the whole mess. I think other Sonics fans feel the same way, too.

Dallas Mavericks! I went to the Mavs-Spurs game last night. Nice!

A friend told me a story I think worth retelling. He went to a Mavs-Spurs game earlier this year in San Antonio. The Mavs tore up the Spurs, and their fans were not in a good mood after the game.

As he was driving out of the parking lot, some Spurs fans saw all the Mavs caps and paraphernalia on them and their car. So, 3 or 4 of them blocked in my friend's "Mavs car" with their "Spurs cars."

He wasn't released from detention until every other car had exited the lot!

It was all in good fun. Just like these sporting events should be.

Spurs fan here :001_tt2:

Congrats on your game 5 win :cursing:

I barely follow the NBA these days

It's just...not the same......

Boring, soft, overhyped (ESPN : Lebron , Kobe, Lebron, Kobe, Lebron), suspicious officiating......

And the NBA on ESPN/ABC, oh my God, it's just awful; thanks God for TNT; NBA on TNT is awesome
In a perfect world, it would be NBA on NBC and NBA on TNT

I am from oklahoma and it has been awesome having the Thunder. It was unfortunate the way we got the NBA team but the fan support has been wonderful as well as the team winning 50 games and making the playoffs. Hopefully we can nod it up at 3 games a piece in OKC

Wow, I'm the opposite. I can't stand TNT. However, the less seriously I take it, the less annoying it is. Unfortuanately, our local "Fox Sports Ohio" team called their last game of the playoffs last night, so now I have little choice.

My problem is with TNT, they don't actually call the game. They talk about other stuff while the game is going on in the background..

Spurs fan here...

Unfortunately, you guys from the dark side still have us in a series hole...

...suspicious officiating......

I root for the Mavs. But, after the 2006 NBA finals a few years ago, Mavs vs Heat, I have probably watched a total of 30 minutes of basketball, and haven't been to a game until last night, even though I live close. It was very clear to even those outside Dallas that the refs wanted Miami to win...

Check out the Controversy section...

Then, that ref was caught and sent to jail (wasn't he)?

Yes, suspicious officiating has pretty much turned me off to basketball too. I root for the Mavs. But...

Well, if it's DOug Collins, then I agree with you; he talks about Kobe all the time, even if he is not calling a Lakers game
Other than that, Albert, Harlan, EJ and Sir Charles are great.

ESPN/ABC: Hubie Brown is making them look good; he is fantastic.

Mike Breen, well, he is very professional and seems to be a nice guy, but I can't stand his "hoho" and "bang!"

Mark Jackson: total idiot; oh, and during the same game, he will say: " I'll take a good offense over a good defense any time of the day ", then 20 minutes later, during the same game: " defense wins championships :confused1

Jalen Rose-Stuart Scott: are you kidding me? they are awful

Jeff Van Gundy: brilliant analyst, because he is a great coach; he used to be funny, but hos jokes are getting old.
I also lost total repect for him when during the 2008 Finals, he backed down from the comments he made a few days earlier about the fact that some refs told him (when he was coaching Houston) that they would officiate against him.
He made that statement as if someone had him at gunpoint; Disney/ABC/ESPN must have received a phone call from Big Stern.....

I do miss Al Michaels though....

Unfortunately, you guys from the dark side still have us in a series hole...

Spurs have yet to win 4.... relax

Honestly, even though I hate the Mavs (except Nowitzki and Kidd), Wade got Stern's help, no question, but so did the Lakers on many occasions anbd Lebron James yesterday vs Chicago

Phew, last nights game (Lakers v Thunder) was intense! The raw talent and intensity of OKC was really something, big things ahead for those guys. Looking forward to the next match ups, Spurs v Suns should be interesting, and the Eastern conference is going to be buzzing. Very glad that the Jazz took care of the Nuggets, Denver is a rough team for the Lakers to have to go through. I love the Playoffs

I'm glad Denver is out of it, for some reason the Cavs always have a hard time with them. I wouldn't sweat a Cavs final against any of the final 4 in the West, but from what I've seen, my sense is that the Jazz would probably give them the best fight. I just don't see the Lakers keeping it together through 2 more series, they just have this bad habit of completely folding in certain games.

This is assuming, of course, the Cavs make it past Boston...

Since the Thunder lost...GO CLEVELAND!! (I used to live a mile from jacobs field in Cleveland, OH). :001_smile Cleveland vs. Orlando is going to be the REAL NBA championship series imho.. once either of them reaches the west finalist (probably LA imho), the east will easily prevail this year (finally)

Man the OKC Thunder did impress us all down here in Okie land. I think after seeing the Thunder REACH the playoffs in their second year here (and after losing the first 15 or 20 games to start their first year here)...WOW! :thumbup1:
Huge turnaround for them. I know everyone in OKC is dying to get their hands on season tickets for 2010-2011 now. Planning on buying some myself just to see how they fare. At the rate they've improved since leaving Seattle we should be league champions in like what? 2 more years maybe? LOL!

The Ford Center where the OKC Thunder play apprently broke the NBA league noise level records during the home playoff games. I read a quote that even Kobe said the OKC fans #1 in the league in terms of crowd volume and fan support/help for their team when opponents are visiting OKC.

Hey Miles,
All I got to say is Go lakers :thumbup1:....But, they've got to do better than playing well one day and sucking another. They are very inconsistent :sneaky2:. When the bench falls apart, they really fall apart...it then becomes a One Man team. Can't afford that.

Also, watch out for Oklahoma next year...they are serious contenders, despite their youth

Oh, BTW, the only way to watch NBA is HD (1080i baby)...you can see how close of a shave each player has had :shaving:.

Here's an idea :idea::
Maybe we should bet on who shaves with what. Any guesses?? Is Kobe all Str8 (head and face) ??

Los Suns today for Cinco? It should be Los Sols.

:glare:

Yeah, teams always botch this strange promotion. The jerseys don't normally say "The Suns", so it's just blatant pandering to part of their fan base as far as I see it....and a bad job at it. I'm never a fan when any of the sports (OK, MLB and NBA) take days to promote along racial lines to part of their fanbase. I could see wearing Spanish jerseys if they played a special game in say Mexico City or Rio... Oh well.

Anyways, my Bulls are out of it. At least we're getting a new coach.

All I have to root for is for Kobe Bryant to lose.
