The impression I get from various sources is that 2009 and 2010 were great years in Europe for wine. As often as not, those are the wines that are on our shelves now, so now might be a good time to try some nifty wine.

Sure, you could chase down a 2010 first-growth claret for a couple grand, or a 2010 Romanee-Conti for a deuce more ... but that's probably out of reach of most of us. Heck, that's more than a NOS puck of vintage Yardley.

But I'm thinking that the good years show all the way down to the ordinary table wines you pick up for $20 or whatever at your local liquor store.

Has anyone found any particular gems out there at reasonable prices? Tell your B&B bretheren!!

Lots of good 2010 Rhone wines out there, plenty of cotes du rhone choices in the $10-15 range (I've liked the Saint Cosme and Delas, both of which should be pretty easy to find), and crozes-hermitage and gigondas in the $15-25 range. Most of what I've tried are very consistent across the board and great with food!
