2 vs 3 piece shaving heads?

I'm narrowing down my first purchase and venture into this world and one thing I'm reading up on is the difference between 2 and 3 piece shaving heads (I'm not that drawn to the butterfly opening).

I want something that feels as 'solid' as possible with few parts and rattling.
I assume that both the 2 and 3 piece heads feel very solid once they are screwed tight - but can you still tell?

What made you choose a 2 vs a 3 piece head?

2 piece is my choice. But then the 37C and Progress are my favourite razors. The 3 piece are handy for travelling. Hence I use the EJ in my Dopp kit.

I bought my Merkur 38HD for its shaving qualities. I tried a 3 piece for travel, but was not a fan of that particular 3 piece based on ita shaving qualities. It locked up just fine. I got rid of the 3 piece and bought a second 38 HD for travel. It does not take up that much more room when packing.

ETA - the 38 HD is a 2 piece.

both are rock solid
imo, only advantage i give to 3 piece is cleaning because the bottom plate is also a separate piece but an old tooth brush makes short work of both types

I prefer three piece to TTO because there is less room for movement, smaller and sturdier heads, and they are easier to clean. The closest thing I have to a two piece razor is my New Improved, where the locking portion of the handle comes out the bottom. It is a solid razor, but I don't see any advantages over what could be a regular three piece razor.

Three piece for me, as somebody above mentioned you can pack it flat.

They all feel just as solid when closed though, don't worry about that.
