2 different tallow first English Fern?

Ok guys,
Most of us were under the impression that there was 2 different formulations of Penhaligons Bleinheim Bouquet (tallow 1st and tallow 5th) and only one formulation of English Fern (tallow 1st) which was "potassium tallowate". However, I recently picked up a "tallow 1st" English Fern but the first ingredient is not "potassium tallowate" but "sodium tallowate". The ingredients list is much shorter than the potassium tallowate formula. The formula has a resemblance to my Floris No. 89 tallow based puck (very short tallow based formula). Could this be one of the Floris manufactured pucks made for Penhaligons? Does anybody know when Floris stopped manufacturing soaps for Penhaligons? Jim might help with this one. This is an interesting find and I'm glad I found it. I can't imagine an English Fern performing better than the potassium tallowate version but this one looks like it might. Your thoughts.

Tony

I don't have any input but I just picked up some BB that has Tallow as the 5th ingredient so I'd like to know more.

Any other differences in packaging? I know Pen's tallow first BB had a different style of packaging, so if this is similar, perhaps it is an older version of this soap?

As far as the ingredient list being much shorter, I believe this is because due to some regulations they now have to list all the components that make up "parfum". I have no idea what the answers are to your other questions though.

Someone had a refill puck of EF listed on eBay that he claimed to have gotten in the late 90's in London somewhere. The first ingredient was 'sodium tallowate', so I think the vintage you have is the OLD OLD formulation... not sure when this changed over to the 'Potassium Tallowate' though.

There were 3 versions of EF. Tallow with the short list, then tallow with the longer list, and now no more tallow of any kind.

I have a puck of BB with sodium tallowate listed first and my understanding it is the older version of the soap and at least 5 years old.

The two tallow versions work equally well (I've used them back to back and can't tell the difference).
