15 razor collection sold on ebay

Did anybody else see this one on ebay?

I was watching it and then it was gone. I asked the seller how much it went for...

Don't know if it's in good taste to mention it, maybe somebody here picked it up.

I think there are some very nice razors in that collection, but maybe not all of them.

Every single time I click on all these ebay closed bids that everyone posts, I get about 1.5 seconds of what it was before it pops up "Bidding has ended on this item" and takes away the screen :cursing:

The auction says 0 bids, so the seller probably ended the auction early because he either decided not to sell it or sold it off of eBay.

Mmm.... there was a nice selection of razors in there and to be honest the display was quite nice too - someone may have got a good deal there!

I wish somebody with lightening quick ident skills would check it out. I see a toggle and maybe an gold aristocrat.

The same seller did the same thing with a Big Fellow a few days ago. I'm guessing that one of the razor re-sellers on eBay negotiated a BIN price and it was relisted or sold off of eBay. It would have been amazing to see what that auction went for, though. There was a double ring :w00t: in addition to the other great razors that have been mentioned.

My understanding is that sellers can cancel an auction even if there are bids as long as there are more than 12 hours remaining.

I had a seller cancel an auction 2 hours after it ended. :confused1 They claimed they made a mistake and didn't have the item. I think they just didn't like the selling price. I checked for a few days to see if they re-listed, and then realized I didn't care enough to waste my time.

I saw it, and it was around $130 with over a day left. I figured it would get seriously out of hand before it was all over. Looks like it didn't, and the seller pulled the auction rather than let it go for an undervalued amount.

Well I can confirm that I bought the lot. I spotted it when the bidding was around $3 but it was listed as US postage only so I sent the seller a note asking if he would post the razors to Australia without the display case. I didn't hear anything for a little while but I kept a close eye on it. The seller eventually got back to me and said that he would post them. He also said that he'd had an offer of $x for them and if I was prepared to beat that, he would sell them to me and end the auction. I offered $y and then deal was sealed.

Now some of you blokes must have pretty bad eyesight because I spotted it straight away. Have a look at the razor the second row from the bottom and in the middle.

Nope, but I did see this one.

In fact, I bought it. I mainly bought it for the twinplex stropper. The seller actually threw in a nice Pal injector razor and some vintage Gillette blades that weren't listed in the auction.
The razors look kind of crappy in the pics, but that's just because they needed a good cleaning. After I cleaned and sterilized them, they look a LOT better.

The Injectors and Gems shave like a dream, too. Though I don't think they'll ever take the place of my DE Gillettes.
I really like how the silver flare tip SS shaves too. I didn't have an SS before getting this lot. Now I have 3.
What I'd really like to get are a couple more 1960s silver or black handled adjustables in fantastic condition to give to my sons when they get old enough to shave.

In a way, I think I paid too much, but then again, I got 13 razors for the price, plus the brushes, stropper, and some blades.
I think I'll remove the knot from the aluminum handled brush, fix the cracked handle with self brazing aluminum flux, and epoxy in a new badger knot.
The green VDH brush, I may just clean/sterilize and use until it falls apart, then epoxy in a new knot.
