Looks good. Also check out Goodwill. I've gotten a few soap mugs there for under a buck.

That VDH brush looks well broken in. How do you like it?

goodwill...nice tip!

i've been DE shaving for a little over a year now and its the first and only brush i've used. so i don't have anything to compare it too but it builds a good lather (Bigelow) i knew badger was supposed to be better but my thought process when i first started was not to go crazy with the expensive stuff at first cause i might not like it. now my thought process is OMG I GOTTA HAVE THAT AND THAT AND THAT AND THAT AND THAT. all except for the brush....idk theres just something about it being my first that makes it special. so i havent been in any hurry to upgrade

I agree. I still use mine (pre-VDH Surrey brand, the one in my avatar). I've had mine for nearly 30 years and it is very soft on the tips yet has good backbone. I only use it a few times a year these days, but it still works very well.

Wally World also has a lovely selection of "salsa bowls" in a couple different colors. Very sturdy and great for building a quick lather. That's what I love about these cheap plastic bowls - you don't have to worry about dropping it. And even if it breaks, it's not expensive to replace.

I got a nice ceramic bowl today actually, at my Asian market. They got a bunch of bowls for a buck, buck and change. My bowl was $1.25. It's nice looking, let's see if I can find a pic online (taking my own pictures is hard, as the camera on my phone is broken and I gotta borrow a family member's.) Oh well, no pictures, so here's something close to what mine is:

I could get smaller bowls/cups there, too, all for a buck or two each, and usually ceramic. I'm thinking looking back I should have went for a smaller bowl, though. Who knows.

Too bad there are no WalMarts in Brooklyn or in NYC area, because I need to get a bowl a mug on the cheap.

Check the Asian markets, all kinds of bowls and things there. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/mHoO...WRwYkpgIeJ8N4NjeUg3zIg#WRwYkpgIeJ8N4NjeUg3zIg According to that, there's an Asian market right in Brooklyn. Hell, if I didn't live with my parents, I'd probably just do all my shopping at the Asian stores, they have everything I need spicewise and all that. But most people nowadays prefer to have frozen pizza and Hot Pockets be staples of their diet, and thus why Walmart is expanding.

im not sure if you were referring to the salsa bowls or the bowl i bought for a buck, but the bowl i bought isn't plastic. its a ceramic bowl. which is why i posted here. a buck for a ceramic lather bowl!

I've been getting really nice off-white cereal bowls from Target for $4; they are perfect for whipping lather and they are the proper size for holding small to large pucks or whipping a bit of shave cream. Also, they give me plenty of room for swirling. I think the hunt for bowls is one that's fun; check the ceramic dinnerware sections of stores like Target and Bed Bath and Beyond. I've found Target's dinnerware to be of better quality and larger selection than Walmart's.

I still have the Thomas O'Brien bowl I got at Target a couple of years ago. I think these bowls are now under the Target name and they no longer carry this size. At least I haven't seen it in the Target near me. Too bad, it was the perfect size. Now they just carry the smaller and larger sizes.
