Item Description
From Basenotes:
Top Notes: Bergamot, Lavender, Lemon
Middle Notes: Geranium, Pine, Clary Sage
Base Notes: Cedarwood, Moss, Musk, Amber
I received small (1oz/30ml) splash bottles of both the aftershave and cologne in a B&B trade (lucky me!) a few months ago, and they languished on the shelf -- I'd told myself that "the only reason someone would give them away would be if they didn't smell good." Well, I was wrong -- they smell terrific!
I put on the aftershave immediately upon finishing my shave today, in place of the usual witch hazel. Wham! The not-unpleasant sharpness of the alcohol sting was matched by the initial "bite" of lemon and the other top notes; within a few minutes the lemon faded, replaced by the fresh, woodsy smell of pine.
That was when I splashed some of the cologne into my cupped palms, and from there onto my face. Ahhh... the same progression of lemon-to-pine-forest; stronger this time, but with less of the "slap" that I got from the aftershave.
Now it's almost two hours later, and although the pine lingers, it's the base notes of cedarwood and moss which predominate and, from my recent use of this scent, I know that they will continue to accompany me until nightfall and on through the evening.
Pino Silvestre is a clean, fresh, foresty scent; not overly-complex (thankfully), with a (to my nose) lengthy and orderly progression of smells, which transition smoothly and gracefully, and finish with a woody dry-down that's "got legs".
I find this cologne to be suitable for daytime, evening, and sports (I wear it to the gym a lot!). As for the price, it's easily affordable: I bought two 4.2oz spray bottles (ya gotta love the bottle) on eBay for $33.10 + $5.99 S/H
I give Pino Silvestre a
