Welcome to SOTD, Alexei. Attractive close up shot. How do you like the mixed hair Vulfix?

Many thanks for the warm welcome, @ronweston!

The mixed hair Vulfix is a revelation. My previous brushes were (unbeknownst to me) too soft and floppy to work a shaving soap—which saw me using creams exclusively after failed early efforts with soap. A recently viewed YouTube video introduced me to the concept of backbone and a thread on B&B included comments commending the mixed hair Vulfix for having it.

The mixed hair Vulfix loads better than any other brush I've used. The 'scritch' over which B&B commenters have differing reactions is there, but the Vulfix is no more scritchy than at least one of my previous all-badger brushes, so I don't find it off-putting. The overall effect is that I'm getting equally good or better lathers on soap as against earlier brushes, even on cream, with no penalty in comfort. I count the Vulfix 404's mixed hair knot a success.

(Kudos to the author of the How to Break in a Shaving Brush wiki page. I have never before eradicated a brush's wet-dog odor with such dispatch.)

Got the perfect high angle for the shot, Steve. Nice reflection in the GEM head. By the way, how do you like using the GEM?
Thanks Ron for the compliment. I was slightly bummed as I was looking at the photos that I had the AS barcode instead the front of the label showing. Shows how you can miss the obvious sometimes when looking at some other details. Oh well - no big deal.

The Ever Ready 1912 is just outstanding. This morning was my second shave with it and both were very comfortable and resulted in BBS shaves. The audio feedback is just right while the razor is biased towards the mild side and just works great. It takes me about 3 passes with a clean up, no irritation/weepers/etc, and the angle is not difficult to find and maintain. The razor feels slightly heavy for its size but I think works well with it being somewhat mild. The build quality appears to be very robust, and hell, it has lasted longer then me. The detail in the handle is just amazing and beautiful, while the guard is also crafted nicely. Overall, it does seem to have some awkward proportions, and I thought there could be an issue getting under the nose, but with a little finesse, these areas are not difficult to access. I dare say with only 2 shaves under my belt, that this is probably my favorite SE over the Hawk, Schick E2, and OneBlade V2. The only negative I have found is that the blade retainer hooks and intricate but rough handle pattern make it difficult to wipe down and clean with a towel without snagging the cloth - especially inside were you place the blade. Although the rougher handle surface finish is prefect for grip during shaving. Honestly, for the price, quality, historic, and aesthetic value, these razors IMO are hard to beat. It will be interesting to see how the pending modern versions will improve upon this vintage GEM (pun intended)!

Mastro Livi Razor Club 2017

Still on the road and still having the immense pleasure of testing this Mastro Livi Club Razor 2017. I have to say this is a super straight razor with a proverbial and impeccable edge, delivering a magnificent smooth and close shave. I can't wait to get my Mastro Livi Club Razor 2017 and I am sure it will make a great couple with the 2016 edition. The shave was very comfortable and smooth, also thanks to Cella shaving cream and the magic touch of Floïd Blue aftershave, one of the very best lotions both for performance and fragrance. I should say a great aftershave coupled to an incredibly beautiful masterpiece such as this Mastro Livi Club Razor 2017!

Good assessment on the GEM. Glad you're liking it. I had a week's worth of vintage SE shaves last September but only used the 1912 once. I have several GEM 1912s and an Ever Ready 1912 so I should do a week of 1912 shaves one of these days. I haven't used the vintage SEs enough to know how much I like them. I'm looking forward to the modern versions appearing. I'm sure I'll be giving at least one of them a try.
