What's new

A warning to people thinking about spending time on this site

Jeremy ;

Not only do I envy your collection, I admire it's arrangement, the simple background in your photo, and and good soft lighting used to display it.

- Francisco

Joel, like I said, if this is a spitting (pissing) contest, I'm not a contender... but would love to see your display; I need something to aspire to.

Cheers

Jeremy

Being a newbe, I also am not a contender. But in 1 month, I bought my 1st DE razor and already had a badger brush. I now have 7 DE razors and 3 Silver Tip brushes and a Best Badger Brush. I also have 3 DE razors and a Finest Badger brush being shiped to me, now.

I've said this before on this forum, but believe me guys, collecting this stuff is a relatively cheap hobby compared to a lot of other collectibles. Try collecting vintage guitars or amps! Or watches! Or vintage tube radios! Or custom knives! Forget about photography, sculpture and art.

Just enjoy yourselves!

+1

A hell of alot cheaper than most hobbies.

Inquiring minds want to see the Pix!

All kidding aside, it would literally take me HOURS just to round up all the stuff. I mean, boxes and boxes and boxes of stuff. I've got 50+ creams, 100+ colognes, god knows how many straights/de's, tons of aftershaves, I mean it's really, really scary

I'll post a few pics of my straight razor "dispays" - or basically the place where I store the straight razors I use day to day.... i've got quiet a few more in boxes and drawers though

Here ya go...

These 4 shelfs house *JUST* the shavers I use/shave with, I've got multiples of some of the razors shown, as well as quite a few others I just don't have room to keep out! :001_tt1:

I'd take pics of more, but well.... it's be a major PITA, and I'm lazy

Thanks Joel, puts me in my place. (In my defense I should point out that the before and after photos are barely five months apart and my family are about to summon the nice people who turn up with a loaded syringe and a white jacket with lots of straps and buckles.)

Thanks Francisco for your kind words about the photography - the gear was placed on the floor (limewashed boards) and the blinds were raised to let some daylight in. Digital camera was pointed in the general direction of the floor and button was pressed. If the results are even passable, that has to be down to blind ignorance and shameless luck.

Oh no no no.... it's no contest, if anything it's an embarassment.... well, more so a glimpse into your future

Joel, if there is anything I can do to lessen your embarrassment, I'll cheerfully send you my PO Box details.

I am always wowed by your collection Joel. Do you keep all your razors shave ready so you can pick up any one you want to and shave with it?

Help me. I have to get out now. 2 weeks and counting and already I want a new brush. Fortunately, my wife only wants me to buy organic stuff so that limits me to only a couple of soaps and creams. PHEWWW!! As for the razors and brushes MMMM.

Thanks for posting the pics. I must say, that's a beautiful collection of straights and brushes; collectively known as "razor porn."

Errr....ummm.....well... those aren't the "brushes." Those are a FEW of the brushes, but i've got about 40+ more.

When I first started wet shaving and B&B I told my wife how much money I would save buy not buying those expensive Gilllette cartridges. That was Several hundred dollars ago.

Joel, those are amazing razors, the handles are just beautiful. I really think you should just call them art pieces and not razors purely for the reason that it makes me more comfortable. If Tinzien sees this thread im going to have to go hide in the bedroom with a shotgun for a looong time protecting the assests under the matress ;) On the plus side I could always use a bigger house with more bathrooms, sounds like a fair trade doesnt it? Im afraid, im very VERY afraid.
