Your personal mantra/saying

Hi gents,

What is a mantra, phrase, or saying you always keep in the back of your mind or start your day with?

I have several, one of which is a quote by Michael Caine:

"Be like a duck. Remain calm on the surface and paddle like hell underneath."

Mr. Carlton, my English teacher my junior year of high school, had a couple of mantras that have stuck with me.

"Improvise. Adapt. Overcome." was probably my favorite. Any problem can be bested, you just need to find the right way about going about it. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think of it at some point.

Also, first day of class, he wrote the Greek letters Sigma Delta Gamma on the board. He explained to us that it stood for "**** don't go" and not to bull**** him in his class. He expected high quality work from everyone and wouldn't take any excuses.

I really need to get in touch with him, he really was a fantastic teacher.

One with variations:

Fortune favors the well-prepared.
Nature favors the well-prepared.
Luck favors the well-prepared.

Be kind to people you meet on the way up, because you're going to meet the same people on the way down.

Here are a couple

1) Make sure the light at the end of the tunnel isn't a train bearing down on you.
2) Perception is Reality.

"It's funny 'till someone gets hurt--Then it's freaking hilarious. "

OK not really. It is:

"Men of low degree are only vanity and men of rank are a lie; In the balances they go up; They are together lighter than breath."

Here's one that I've used as a sig in an unrelated forum.
