What's new

your opinion-best british film comedians ?

not counting laurel & hardy, since all their films were american....so...my picks for the greatest british film comedians are....peter sellers.....terry thomas.....bernard cribbens

When you say "film," are you literally limiting this to Brits who primarily gained fame through motion pictures rather than TV? If so, Sellers is probably the best choice.

If you're including comedians who worked in both TV and film I'd have to put Cleese at the top. At his peak, he was (for my money) the funniest man in the world. He could do more with one raised eyebrown than most comedians can do with their enire body.

Jeff in Boston

Peter Sellers, of course. He should be on any list of great film comedians.

What about Alec Guinness? He's wonderful in his Ealing films.

Cary Grant.

Monty Python, as a collective unit.
