... Start saving your pennies.

I just got back from the preview/launch of the new 2012/2013 product line-up.

Some good stuff in the pipeline. New printers look very nice, Eos M (meh), Eos 6D (High ISO quality is awesome!) and a "compact" with about 1200mm equivalent zoom.

Add to all that free food and booze, and a good night was had by all.

I know we are both Nikon guys, but I wonder, how does the 6d compare with the D600, now that you've played with both? That's been the big mystery question...

I prefer the feel of the D600. It is heavier, but to me that means solid and reliable. I'm old fashioned like that. I have only shot the 6D indoors, and at night, but I cranked the thing up to 25600 iso (like you do...) and was very impressed.

I still won't be switching brands, but if I had Canon EF glass, and wanted a new camera, the 6D would definitely be on my radar. It will be in about the same price range as the 5D Mark II is now, which is to say, head to head with the D600 (surprise, surprise.)

I use both Pentax and Canon stuff. At this point the next thing I will be adding is a Pentax Limited prime lens. These are fantastic lenses.

Additional Canon equipment I still might look at...would be a 5D2 (still available) or 5D3....with a 24-105 L or 17-40 L.
