Yaqi Brush with Mew Brown Knot

I like both this handle style and knot, but Yaqi doesn't currently offer this particular combo (see photo). I asked Grace Chen at Yaqi if they would, but they're a business and will only do so if the market demands. Here's her email: [email protected]

BTW, the photo is from Yaqi and was posted several years ago on Facebook. I think it's a 26mm knot (since the Mystery Space handle takes those), but am not sure.

Yes. I prefer the Mysterious Space handle shape (which also shows up as the Yaqi Ferrari Red and in other various forms), and wanted the Synbad knot instead of the ususal Tuxedo or Cashmere. I hope to get Yaqi to oblige, if not there are other means to that end.

APShaveCo sells a 26mm SynBad knot. Maybe you can find a handle that fits and is to your liking.

Thanks. Looking more and more like a separate knot and handle is the way to go. In retrospect it's probably the best way.

I have that knot in my Yaqi Purple haze 24mm and my Moka express 24mm. If you want a nice 26mm knot that is similar to the Mew brown whiskers and a nice handle I would choose the "Casino clubs" 26mm husky knot hands down. That is a luxury knot with a good handle.
Yaqi experiments with different knots in different handles and I picked this one on sale with a Timber wolf 26mm knot in a Casino club handle and its one of my best brushes I own for my synthetic brushes, 26mm knots are very nice brushes IMO.
(picture below is a odd ball Timber wolf 26mm in a Casino club handle, Excellent lather generator, Heavenly luxury cloud like soft tips, gentle splay scrubber + excellent lather painter.

The Mew Brown is a nice knot, I think it may be 24mm, nominal. I have a 24mm Mew Brown in the Purple Haze handle. Also have a 24mm Two-band badger in the Mysterious Space handle. Your suggestion would be a good combo.

Altho its a 24mm maybe try the Razorock Mokasoft. It's a Yaqi "type" beehive handle (Bali) with a Yaqi "type" (Mew brown) knot. A Very nice brush!!!

Thanks for all the recommendations. I've got a Mysterious Space handle en route and will ditch the Tuxedo knot it comes with and replace it with one of the Synbad knots I have on hand.

I have the Yaqi Purple Haze with the Brown Mew knot and the RR Moka-soft Beehive and the two are not the same, the Moka-soft is a stiffer knot with more backbone and a little more scrub. Of the two I prefer the Yaqi Brown Mew, definitely a favourite brush.

Thank you, that is very good to know. I was going on assumptions based on looks and handle feel alone. I like both the yaqi and the razorock brushes, with my preference leaning towards the Hive Mokasoft. I have a feeling the glue bump may be helping with the scrub. As with anything it's always ymmv in this game.
