Xpec vs Castle Forbes

For those who have tried Xpec and Castle Forbes, on a purely performance basis, which do you rate as better?

Do you feel Xpec is so far superior as to justify it costing twice what Castle Forbes costs?
Just for reference Castle Forbes in the UK costs about 20pounds, whereas Xpec costs 40pounds. I don't care about the scent as I do not like pepper fragrances so Xpec would be unscented. Also yes I am aware Xpec has 50grams more in it.

Hello Professor, By coincidence, these are my two absolute favorite cream( Xpec Unscented only, don't care for that peppery smell either). To answer your question,I'd say No. The 2 are about equal in my book,so CF's cheaper price would cause me to choose it. I love both their Lime and Lavender(great scents). As far as overall performance, both CF and Xpec deliver a marvelous, thick and protective lather from very little product.Fortunately,I was able to get 2 big tubs of Xpec Unscented for 50% the regular price. That was a superb deal as I've never seen it on Sale anywhere else. Its a superb Italian cream made by Forrester in Milano,I believe. Craig

Not fond of the smell of Castle Forbes Lime, love the performance though. The Xpec is tempting me but the price is astronomical. Cheers for your input.

Personally I find the XPEC a tad better and the scent has grown on me. But for the price difference I do not think it is worth it.

I have xpec unscented and CF lime and lavender. IMO they are the two absolute best creams I have tried. I would say xpec has a very slight edge in performance. It is slick like a high end soap. You can't go wrong with either. They are both at the high end price range but I have no regrets. Also they both are very dense creams in large containers. I would guess a tub of CF would last 4-5 months and xpec 6 months or so. The cost per shave probably isn't too bad for either choice.

Just grab both so you have no regrets. :)

I am a student so grabbing both will be difficult, and not really the answer I am looking for  I have the Castle Forbes Lime, but I am wondering if Xpec really is worth it seeing as it is double the price. What you are telling me is essentially it isn't worth it. Cheers for your reply

I think XPEC may perform slightly better than CF, but in my opinion the difference is insignificant and certainly not worth the extra cost. I kept them both around but ended up selling the XPEC because using an unscented cream is just not as enjoyable. I would rank these two as being in the same league. Do you not like CF Lavender?

I do not like CF Lime, well the scent. The performance is great. I will buy myself some CF Lavender then to try that out. Cheers for your opinion, will definitely skip this one then.

Definitely go for Castle Forbes Lavender if you can. It is DEVINE compared to the Limes. I tried CF creams and balms several times before but sold my tubs one after the other. When I eventually gave in and bought a tub of Lavender earlier this year, my eyes were openned. Can't believe I have been without this cream for so long!

Just received a tub of Castle Forbes Lavender earlier this week. Best lavender smell ever, and knocks the smell of CF Lime out of the water. I seem to be one of the few that can't stand the smell of CF Lime, and I don't understand why everyone loves it so much.

You're not alone, Prof. The limes is just "OK" for me, but I didn't get the bubble-gum aspect of it. I thought it was a bit child-like and reminded me of lime-flavoured sweets (candy to our US readers!).

The Lavender is a very authentic one, that mellows a bit over time. You seriously can't go wrong with this one. Very natural and the shaves it gives are just superb.

To me it just smelled sickly of lime candy, I was hoping that when I shaved with it I would start wanting to drink a Corona. Alas that did not happen. The Lavender is lovely though, absolutely top notch and exactly what I was hoping from CF.

To me the lime CF smells like lime CoolAid. If only it tasted like lime CoolAid :(. I agree though, Lavender is the best CF scent by a significant margin.

Sorry guys,I have to respectfully disagree here. I love the smell of lime and think the CF Lime is the best lime fragrance on the market. However,I love the CF Lavender just as much. Both are top notch, marvelous shave creams. Craig

Craig, most of B&B will disagree with my opinion on the CF Lime, however I know I am not alone in hating the scent. But that is why YMMV  The performance of the CF was so good I kept trying to like the lime, until I gave up and sold it. Very quickly bought the CF Lavender which I now have and it is everything I expected of CF.

I am not saying I don't like the CF Limes - I agree it's probably the best out of all the Limes out there, but I can't help but think it's a sweetened lime scent, hence my association of it with candy/confectionary etc.

I am sure it will work fine for a lot of people especially in the hot summer months, but their Lavender is just that little bit better for me. It's the only cream that I own, which I think says a lot about it.

Am getting some Mikes Lime so hopefully that will be more of what I am looking for, which is a fresh lime scent. I can honestly say I don't like CF Limes, neither does the missus, or the guy I sent a sample to.

As I said, YMMV as smell is very subjective and the majority here seem to like CF Lime, however I am not one of them.
