XiKar Pipeline Lighter....Low Flame

I recently purchased a XiKar Pipeline Pipe lighter and I worked O.K. the first week, now I can't adjust the flame high enough ? I'm new to the pipe so this was my first pipe lighter bought along with a La Roca 'como' pipe.

I have been a Zippo Guy for about 20 years and NEVER had ANY problems....what gives ? I always discharge all the butane from the XiKar before refilling and let it sit for a few minutes. I cant get that flame to adjust nearly high enough ? Anyone with this lighter that has had the same problem ?

IMHO the La Roca pipe is great......Now I want a Peterson though...!!

Thanks Guys......

What kind of butane are you using? I had the Pipeline and it HATED Zippo and other fuels. I had low flame and lots of sputtering until I started using the Xikar fuel, after that it worked perfectly. It seems like I had to keep the flame setting kind of high as well.

If you can't find Xikar fuel, at least find some that is triple refined. I have a can of King butane, I've had it for years and have never had any lighting problems with it. It even works in my crappy Monarch lighters until they fall apart.

Only Xikar butane being used in my pipeline......I just don't get it. I wonder if the shop I purchased it at will exchange it or do I have to send her in. I just wanted to make sure I'm not missing some little nugget of knowlege.

I read somewhere to turn the flame setting to the lowest before filling. I never do it, but worth a shot.

I'm having issues with my Xikar as well. Went thru an entire round of butane in 5 bowls. Haven't had a chance to get it checked out yet. All I know at this point is that the tobacconist filled it up with Vector or Xikar fuel before handing it to me.
