I'm a believer. My Derbys just arrived with free Arko shave soap. People have been critical of Derbys with vertical writing. I put in a new Wilkinson sword blade, which I picked up from the grocery store: 5 for $.99. I put the Arko soap in a bowl and wet my Vulfix VS#5 boar. The brush is softer than my other boar. I have not yet purchased a badger, but I think the Vulfix boar, now that it has been "broken in," is very good.
I couldn't believe it . Pass after pass, i had no knicke. Even on the upper lip; I had only two slight knicks. I don't if it's the Arko, the new blade, or Wilkinson sword blade, or a combination of all three.
I thought people on this forum were not being real. I was wrong! I actually though there was not a bladed in the razor. I shave with a Merkur 38C.
What makes it more unbelievabe is that I did NO prep: no shower, no wash of face, no splash water and rub face; NOTHING! It was the Vulfix boar, new Wilkinson Sword blade, and Arko soap from Derby, and Mississippi river (New Orleans water).
I tell my friends, but as one can expect, they don't believe me. I can't believe the "systems." What a joke!!!!!
It's too bad: the Wilkinson sword blades are made in Germany. The Derbys are made in Turkey. The Feathers, which I have yet to try, are made in Japan. What about a good made in the USA blade?? Oh, right, there was this company called GILT or something. Does anybody know what I'm talking about??
