Wow, Super Close! EJ DE89BL & Shark Super Stainless Combo

OK, Just so you know I finally looked at the EJ box I received my razor in and the exact model number is: Edwin Jagger DE89BL. Now, It's been some months since going through two sampler packs and I received one of the closest BBS shaves in a while today!!!

Drummm rollll please, I opened a pack of Shark Super Stainless blades and loaded one up in my EJ89........Just a kickin combo on the first shave!
Now, I don't know what to really expect from the next one going forward (how many shaves per blade) to actual usage count, but I'll get back to you on that one too.

My prep for this morning shave included a hot towel prep, Proraso green to a giant bowl of creamy foam, new Shark blade, 3-pass shave with touch-up and cold water splash, alum stick with extra water being thrown on face to act like a splash, 5 drops of Shave Secret as an after shave........Wow, Smoothhhhhhhh to the touch!!!


One very happy (no blood, rash or anything bad) shave today !!!

DE89L and Shark are a good pair. I have found that DE8x likes soft blades like Shark, Personna, Astra, Derby and stuffs like these. I had more difficult experiences with rigid/hard blades like Rapira, Polsilver, Merkur, Dovo...

I have a DE89L and I absolutely get my best shaves with the Polsilver SI's or the AStra SP's. Polsilver even a bit more.

My favorite combo so far has been with the DE89 and Souplex blades (made in Germany) as they are very consistant from blade to blade and really sharp!

I'm going to get around to posting up a complete list of my experiences with all the sampler blades I've used. I'll break it all down to price vs performance
and it will probably contain more than 24 different brands of blades that I've now tried!

Before I ever started with DE wet shaving, I sure would have believed that a razor blade was just a razor blade (lol)!

Snap - I have DE86bl, and was somewhat disappointed with it until trying a Shark Super Stainless blade. Great combo, excellent blade in EJ razors obviously, have recently purchased 100.
