Would this be worth getting? Ever-Ready pure badger

I ran across this brush. The bristles are crispy and feel like broom straw but it says "Pure Badger" on the butt end of the handle. It's a small-ish brush but I prefer small brushes. Would this hair soften up with some careful cleaning and conditioning? Or I could install a new knot easily enough.

Hoping someone here can tell me what this is and if it's something worth getting and messing with (it's $20 - but I could offer $10-15 ?? ).

Just my opinion but there are nicer Ever Ready handles. Ebay has quite a few. I always figure on reknotting so there is that. Flea markets are a good place to look also. I wouldnt try to salvage the knot.

That knot looks nasty, like camp fire tinder.

But the handle is decent and looks like it could clean up okay. Put a new knot in it and it would be a nice project brush.

Actually, if that is natural boar hair, maybe try some leave-in hair conditioner (i.e. Paul Mitchell) to revitalize that old boar. Natural hair does need some basic care.
