Would Naval Jelly Remove Gold Wash?

I have some serious rusting in a gold washed area. I've soaked Kroil Oil on it and not enough is going to come out. Would Naval Jelly remove gold wash? Theoretically, they are supposed to react to oxides (including bluing as it is an oxide) only.

Well gold it supposed to be chemically resistant to acids and oxidizers so...only one way to find out :) I would be inclinded to think it would work ok, but the rust turns black and becomes hard in my experience, as opposed to leaving behind a shiny rustfree surface.

Took one for the team. Don't do it!!!! Not sure if it harmed the gold wash, but any bare metal turned dull that would need to repolished that would result in the goldwash being removed anyways.

Sounds like the gold wash is toast anyways so give it a try on the theory that you have little to lose. Good luck with the restore, I'd love to see pics of your razor.
