What's new

Worst shaving accident ever....

Well, it wasn't actually during the shave, it was during shave prep. I was getting my bowls ready (one holds soap and is little) and I dropped the little bowl into the sink. It shattered, and I caught a piece of it right in my middle finger on my right hand. When I saw I "caught a piece" I mean that there was actually a shard sticking out of my finger, deep enough to stand on its own :tongue_sm . Needless to say, I reacted like a man would, with a cry of ".....ow" No really though, that is how I initially reacted, just by saying ow. Then I started laughing because it was so ridiculous. I dunked the finger in alcohol (which didn't hurt at all...and now my finger tip is numb....maybe I did some minor nerve damage?) Here are some pictures of the aftermath!

As you can see by the size comparison with my uninjured finger, it went about halfway into my finger :tongue_sm .

Crazy stuff huh?

I realize that the date on my camera is off, ignore that please

:lol:Yet another reason to face lather!

Seriously, that's too bad. Hope that you recover well and find a new bowl (preferably one that's unbreakable).

That's nothing.

OK, OK, so I wasn't shaving...a glass solar panel (the huge kind you put on your roof) fell on me. That photo was after 3 weeks of healing, stitches out and a huge loss of blood.

Ok, that, but on my forehead above my eyebrow :tongue_sm . Knocked heads with another kid, somehow tore my forehead wide open and got like, 17 stitches. Went so deep I couldn't raise my eyebrow for a month, and a year later it's still numb.

Wow. Sounds painful.

Mine was about 1/4 inch deep and was open like a flap. If I had tried, I probably could have slipped my other hand or wallet inside my arm.

Didn't hurt when it happened...very clean cut...like shaving cut. Was a month ago today.

I left blood all over the hospital.

About a month two ago I broke a glass that I had a little bit of MWF in.
The glass shattered into a million little shards all over the place.
I cleaned and cleaned and cleaned again.
then, about 4 days later I got a pretty good sized shard stuck in my finger.
that required a total teardown of the bathroom and a massive cleaning effort.
I've worked in restaurants in my past (as have many of you) and I have never seen a glass break into as many pieces as that one did.

Sorry I face lather.
Though I did cut a chunk out of the inside of my right thumb down to the bone. I was going to try and super glue it but I couldn't get the chunk of meat to close so I had to get stitches. Funny though when I went in to get stitches the nurse told me there were a few other guys before me in for the same thing. After that I didn't really have a good shave for a while since I'm right handed.

I just dropped my Van der Hagan shaving bowl off of the turlett lid and, although loud, manage to not shatter on tile. I got to say that's pretty impressive for arguably the cheapest shaving bowl you can buy.

Yeah, I dropped mine once too...wet hands. Didn't even chip or crack. I've been impressed with VDH products despite the rock bottom prices. The Deluxe Soap especially.

My shaving mug is an ancient plastic coffee mug. Unbreakable, but not pretty. I might get up early tomorrow morning to get to the flea market before my wife wakes up.

My town had a First Friday celebration today, and I went into one of the antique shops. He had a nice-looking Gem Micromatic in the original box, but the $50 he wanted for it was a bit steep.

Ouch! Best wishes for a speedy and complete recovery.

You know, this might be a good excuse to invest in a nice scuttle... the Dirty Bird has a nice handle that helps you keep a solid grip on things.

Well, I now have a new plastic bowl that doesn't look like it's plastic! Probably for the best as I am rather clumsy

Not shaving related but in the Navy I was cleaning the pipes and conduits up in the overhead (ceiling) and ripped open a 1" gash on my hand on a thin, steel, very blade-like cable tag. I've a pretty strong stomach but as the chief in medical was cleaning it out before stitching I nearly passed out. Not from pain; until then I never realized that your own meat can be BLUE.
