Worst Ever Soap/Blade Combination!

Hey all. All things being equal for razors, I'm looking for the worst combination of soaps and blades. What do you consider to be the worst? (I'd like to try them out. For fun/research??) :001_unsur :001_tt2:

gillette rubie platinum + swedish dream sea salt soap. ( I may have just not hit the right water mixture with this soap, I am not brave enough to try again )

I have a feeling that Derby is going to be mentioned quite often in this thread. I personally think they are perfectly capable of giving someone a damn fine shave, but as always YMMV. :biggrin1:

I like Derbies but they will likely get the most votes.

As for the soap, the appreciation for a soap depends on the user's ability to lather it.

The popular vote will probably go to Williams but I never used it.

Valobra Menthol & Feather Blade. I don't have any problems with the Feather Blade. Valobra Menthol just doesn't offer enough protection for a comfortable shave. Compound that with one of the fiercest blades made. It will tear your face apart if you're not careful.

Marvy soap makes low-grade bubble bath suds so I'd say that's the worst soap. Blades, that depends on if the first blade the user tries is a dud.

I also think this is a bit of a pseudo-scientific thing, however I had my worst shave ever with Vergulde Hand soap lather and a Polsilver blade on it's second shave. The blade almost seemed to jump on my face on the passes.

Walmart Wilkies & VdH Deluxe. I like the VdH soap. The WW are the only blades I've tossed during the 1st pass. Even Dorco 301s are better.

About any olive-oil based artisanal shaving soap combined with either a Derby, a Dorco ST-301, a Sharp or a 7A.M. (not a 7 O'clock) blade will do fine.

It really is YMMV.
My personal favorite combo is Williams Mug Soap and Derby Blades - two things that I'm sure will get lots of votes on this thread. So far though, I haven't found a blade or soap I didn't like. At first I disliked Feathers, but when my technique improved, I began to like the feather more.

Dorco SE blades
Colgate Shaving Mug Soap (not the older, better Cup soap)

The Colgate generates bubbly foam and the Dorco SE cannot cut hair. Losing combination for sure.
