Winter, Spring, Summer & Fall...

Okay, I've read many posts where fellow forumites have commented that one AS or another was their "go to" based on the season of the year. I'll be honest, I don't understand the concept. What makes one AS more appropriate or better suited for the season?

Thanks in advance.

I live in N. Florida - we pretty much have summer & a cold spring. That said, during the summer I've been enjoying a cooling, refreshing sensation like Osage Rub or Bay Rum...whereas during the cold months, when my skin dries out, I very much so prefer my AOS Sandalwood balm. It's all preferrence by the individual. I'm sure some guys use the same stuff all the time.

in the winter theres alot less humidity so your skin can become chapped especialy with a alchy based aftershave the best balm ive ever used is Brut 3in1 alchy free it has cocoa butter, vitamin E and shea butter awesome have not used it in a while though

For me personally:
Colder months: I enjoy heavier woodsier, scents and more AS balms to help with dry skin than splashes.
Warmer months: refreshing citrus, menthol, bright scents with cooling AS splashes.
Some scents/products are year rounders for me: anything Lavender, Rose, Speick, MWF, PdP come to mind.
It's all just part of the fun of treating shaving more like a hobby-I guess it's the same reason I don't drink gin & tonics in winter and single malt in the summer - ...with a big YMMV, of course :wink2:

Yep, lighter scents and menthol blends for summer, and heavier scents for winter. Of course Bay Rum is a nice year round AS. The scent is great in summer or winter, and the warmth (especially from Clubman) is great in winter.

My answer is similar to the others. In warm weather I wear something citrus based, like Pinaud Citrus Musk, or one that contains menthol, such as Aqua Velva Ice Blue. In cooler weather I'll wear spicier, heavier scents such as Pinaud Clubman Special Reserve or Alt Innsbruck.

Same here

cold days: sunblock +/- Clubman
warm days: sunblock + Clubman or Booster Polar Ice
hot days: sunblock + Osage
nights out: Jack Black Cooling gel + splash
