Winter Soaps

Today was one of the first days where the morning was a bit cool, and with University starting in ten days, fall and winter are right around the corner. They can be dry chapped times. What soap have you found the most beneficial for skin in the winter months? If Proraso is the ideal for summer, what is its wintery sibling

Mitchell's Wool Fat, but it's good year round. Also consider a good after shave balm or moisturizer.

MWF would be great for winter. CADE is also one that I have been using in the current winter time.

[C&E Sweet almond is one of my best soaps for winter but unfortunately this is a discontinued soap]

MWF is great all year round, but it really shines in the winter. Some other nice winter soaps are Gold Dachs, Hans Baier Olivenöl, Klar Rasiersiefe - Cedern und Leder and anything from Olivia's Soaps. I suspect that Tabac and Cella will remain in my rotation through the winter too.

Generally, I find tallow or lanolin based soaps to work best in the drier months. Heavily perfumed creams tend to be too much for my skin when it is cold and dry.

Valobra stick is a nice tallow based soap for the winter.

I generally use soap throughout most of the year but do find myself switching into some creams during the winter months.

Another endorsement for Tabac. Warm and inviting with a great scent that leaves your skin feeling great. I really need to get a puck of MWF.

Hmm...I actually kinda like cool and fresh scents in the winter. It's cold outside and you shave in the warmth inside, so you create a piece of summer...or maybe that's just me, cause I love lime

I used Tabac just about every day from late October to the end of March ... it does the trick for me as a wintertime product, especially when you indulge in all the Tabac-cessories like the bath soap, ASL, EdT and Deo-Stick.

This year, my rotation is considerably explanded, and I have Cade and MWF as cold weather contenders, along with several others.

Right now, I'm using the Cade more than anything else. I love the way it smells, and I love the way it shaves. Its one of the only soaps that I don't superlather with, I just use it by itself. I'm glad to hear it will work well as a winter soap, as I don't want to put it away just because the weather gets cold.

For whatever reason - I tend to separate many creams/soaps by season. Not sure what algorithm my brain is using, but this is pretty much what Ive come up with -

TOBS Mr Taylor
Lider
Permafrost

Fall/Winter

I've been using Tabac for this summer months too, but winter is where it truly shines. Warm scent and good moisturization. You would not like a menthol cooling soap on a cold weather.

When I think of fall / winter I think of spices; cinnamon, pine, nutmeg, patchouli, cloves, pumpkin, musk etc., so I'll normally bring more of those type scents out during those times.

I can't think of a better winter soap scent than Knize 10 ... yes, they make a shave soap.

I find it a touch on the drying side, but winter is also the time when we dust off our balms anyhow ...

Not that it's readily available anymore, but vintage Old Spice , and Yardley's as well, are both rich in tallow and moisturize well. I imagine they would work great in the winter time.
