Wilkinson Sword DE blades

Are their DE blades any good?

I just saw some in another post (the one about the "sticky") and I noticed in the link that there were all kinds of new Wilkinson Sword DE blades available.

Has anyone here used them? Do you like them? And how do they compare to Derbys?

I like them better than Derby's but in Australia, they are often much more expensive putting them in a price range comparable with higher quality blades. Even at this level, I think they manage to hold their own. At least for my face anyway. YMMV!!

Sure, there are better blades, but I find the ones you buy at the supermarket here in Australia to be reliable and fairly durable. I think they're made in Brazil. The German ones are in a similar league, tho - perhaps a tad less smooth, but still good for five very satisfactory shaves.

I shave exclusively Method Shaving, and the Wilkonson's work extremely well. They're somewhere between a Derby and a Feather. Great blades.

Wilkinson Swords may be my favorite. They are sharper than most other razors, but not so sharp that they peel my face off. :001_rolle

I just shaved with my first one this morning. VERY good shave. No nicks and as close as Israeli RP Red Personnas, almost as close as Israeli Crystals.

Very impressed.

*Used it in a 60s SS.

I must say I detest German Wilkinson blades. That's a shame because they are readily available and not as pricey as their Gillette DE counterparts. They don't cut it.

I just found out that my local Bed Bath and Beyond sell these blades, so I had to pick up a pack to try tonight. (They also sell such products as Lilac Vegetal (sp?) and Clubman Pinaud. Not being able to open the bottle and smell, I stuck with the blades.

I know I'm a fairly new poster here, and probably the first nay-sayer on the blade but using them with my 50s superspeed I found the blades to be inconsistent in sharpness. When I had a great blade, I was BBS in three passes w/o touchups and no knicks. Some of the razors seemed to drag over my face and pull my beard forcing me to do a lot of touch up. I liked them, but I mostly use Derby's and the Israeli Personnas.

Hope this helps!
