Wilkinson Sword blade 7 days still going strong so let's see how many days it has!

I know another member has had a 40 plus day blade well I'm not sure how many days I'll get but I'm at 7 and the blade feels even better than day one. I've used it with all 5 of my Gillette's and different soaps and creams and each day is smooth and sharp. Today was a super DFS shave with no irritation so I decided to see how far mine will go, stay tuned for updates.

This is the German made Walmart Wilkinson.

Relatively new at DE shaving, and I have only tried one of these blades but my experience has not been as favorable.

I got four decent shaves out of it, No pulling and only a couple of nicks that I chalk up to my lack of DE experience/technique.
The fifth was noticeably degraded, some pulling and some discomfort after the shave.
The sixth shave it fell off the cliff, made it through one pass and I tossed it, finished off with a pharmacy brand Persona.


Its good to see you are having a better time of it than I did.

Why use these blades for more than 3 days anyway? They're super cheap, and not worth trying to push the limits of the blade.

I have very thick hair and only get three comfortable shaves out of them . I think some people that get a lot of usage have peach fuzz , baby hair , spider silk for hair , or shave only a handfull at a time .

I'm middle of the road as far as coarseness of hair. I do shave everyday for the most part and do 3 pass shaves 90% of the time. As far as blades being cheap I agree this is more of just having fun seeing how far I can go with one blade, trust me as soon as its not comfortable it will be gone!

Now it's day 9 still comfortable and sharp but I did notice a drop off from yesterday so it might be getting ready to play out.

The Walmart Wilkie gets pitched after 3 shaves. I pulled 13 shaves from a vintage UK blade. Not sure which flavor of Wilkinson Sword blade it was as I bought the opened pack at a flea market for a buck.

Well day 10 and I can tell we have reached the end. It bite me twice today and was a bit rough I have to say that tomorrow there will be a new blade in my razor! Plus I only did a two pass shave today it was fun while it lasted.

Yea, anyone getting more than 10 shaves from a DE blade likely has peach fuzz! I have a coarse wirey beard and I get 4-6 usually. I can push a 7'Oclock SharpEdge to 8 in a mild razor. Mach3 used to give me 6 shaves tops back in college, and my beard is a bit coarser now (that was 12 years ago). That was shaving about 2x a week so I could afford blades!

I do have some Made in England Wilkinson Sword I have to try someday. Got them in an Ebay razor/mug lot...
