Wilbert Cutlery in Cocobolo

My first covered tang restoration.
Kris and I decided to go with Cocobolo.
I had a piece of some very nice dark one, I added a Blood Wood wedge and brass hardware.

Stunning. I have wondered how they applied the ivory to the tang - is it just glued on?

On a seperate note, I love the 'bass' pins :tongue_sm

haha looks like I went bass fishing for bit there :)
the scales and tang were plastic , the tang scales were put in place with 3 pins which were smaller than 1/16, no glue.

From the photos, it looks to be a good job. I like the lines. As clean as the covered tang is, there may still be an issue down the road about them coming off because of the wet environment. Cocobolo and glue/epoxy don't always make the best of friends because it has so many natural oils. Unless, of course, you incorporated hidden pins in the tang. You should be proud of the look and the accomplishment.
