Scrubbing Bubbles, hot soapy water, lots of scrubbing, brass brush for rust, a bit of flitz for shine. And really surprising, mechanically as good as any Super Speed I have. Doors open and close perfectly. Just awesome.

The Ever Ready wasn't so bad, just some rust, but I just noticed that the hook that holds the blade in place is partly missing on one side, which really does make it a piece of junk. But the handle will go into the parts bucket.

Shhh!

Don't let this get around. Those of us who know how well they clean up don't need competition from people who currently think they're a lost cause.

Well done. Three more razors brought back from the dead. In most cases I've found it's either just a build up of soap or cream that hasn't been washed off for years or tarnish on silver plated razors.

Tarnish is an especially fun thing to remove, I love to see that silver come alive!

I don't recall if I mentioned that #15 I got from you is a very nice shaver. I've really been enjoying the shaves I get with it. I'm using it with Iridiums, but tonight I'll go with some Wilkinson Sword Premium Chromium, made in England. Never used them before.

nicely done! is there officially a 'revival/restoration disorder'? There must be, it's half the fun of this stuff.

+1 on silver razors. I just cleaned up a single ring recently and I can't believe how much tarnish there was. All nice and silvery now. I was however afraid to try any metal polish for fear of removing the silver.

If it's a single ring and I don't mind, after the aluminum foil method and just plain brushing didn't get it all, I will use tooth paste. Prefer Tom's of Maine.

Wow very nice before and after.

Question:
Now that you got those razors nice and clean and shiny, is there anything you can put on razors as a preventive maintenance. I read one post a while back about mineral oil but thats about it.

These ones are nickel plated, so just lightly cleaning and drying after you use it and put it aside (if in rotation) or once a week cleaning the soap scum off, good to go. I will put a small drop of mineral oil down into the TTO mechanism if it feels and sounds squeaky. I don't think there is any harm in that. If you warm the razor up, the oil moves in pretty easily. But never on the outside. No harm I don't think, but you got to clean it off when you want to use it.

Gunky razors like these were just not maintained. Some folks just aren't maintainers. What grosses us out - and I'm speaking for myself, but including the B&B out of optimism - doesn't even register on others.
