Why This Forum Is The Best

I have been here for nearly 2 years and feel it is time to share a few things about this forum. Simply put it is the best forum I belong to. Why? Because the mods actually are involved and the behaviours in the forums are self regulated. I would say that 99.9% of the time the behaviour is gentlemanly or gentle-womanly. This is a real rarity in the cyber world ,where attacks are common and tolerated. I quit going to some of the other forums when new members were ridiculed for their lack of knowledge on a topic. We were new at one time and courtesy is essential in a new member feeling comfortable in an unfamiliar situation.
What I find is the spirit of helping that is so lacking in the cyber and even the real world. It doesn't matter what the subject, you can get an answerer or opinion that is legitimate. I have seen everything from cars to kidney stones discussed on this forum.
This is a good place to hang your hat and get away from the pace of the world, I sincerely want to say thanks to the mods for keeping it a great place to come..

+1 I'm still new, and amazed at how much I've learned in the 60 days since I joined this forum. Looking back, I can't tell you how valuable the advice I got here was especially when it came to selecting equipment and supplies. Thanks to all the folks who patiently pointed me to existing FAQs, Stickies and posts that answered my questions.

BTW: Google trick to searching B&B. We all know the B&B search feature isn't perfect... so I use Google to search B&B instead.

Go to Google and type in: site:bandgerandblade.com xxxx
Just replace xxxx with whatever you want to search the site for, like "Alum" or "Slant", etc.

This works for any website and only returns results from the site you specify.

One thing you'll always get from here is a good variety of opinions. B&B makes most other forums seem useless.

+1 This is the best (and only) forum I belong to. Right from the start, everyone makes you feel welcome and the willingness to help is amazing.

Troll alert!

The answer's in the wiki. Why don't you read it first before asking dumb questions we're all sick of hearing?

Someone already posted this same thing two weeks ago.

God, these noobs get on my nerves.

Shut up, stupid newbie! He knows about the wiki!

In all seriousness, before I came here, I simply didn't frequent any message boards. Sometimes I would post on the Carolina Hurricanes board, but even that place gets annoying at times. I can only echo what the OP said. Thanks everybody for making this place what it is!

+infinity. I also appreciate (as I've said before and will say again) that the mods participate in conversation here, share advice, and impart wisdom. The mods here are more than just "Private eyes, they're watchin' you! They're watchin' your every move!"

+1000. One of my past favorite forums was replaced by B&B as soon as I found this place. The main problem I had was the so-called experts willingness to flame the newbletts, "Failure" to use the search button" or posting a question already asked 1000 times. If someone is asking, surely it's important to them. I would suspect that anyone who flames here would get it 5 times back or banned.

Also, I enjoy the spirit of the wisdom shared here on B&B, I've just learned to use Google to assist my B&B searches and stuff like that is really appreciated. :thumbup1:

Another reason this thread rocks, the off topic material. Sure, I'm here to learn more about shaving, but from recipes to clothing to clowning around just makes this one heck of a web site.

A tip of the hat to all who moderate and contribute to it.

I agree wholeheartedly. I've got a few other forums I hang out on, but this one gets the bulk of my web surfing time...

#1 that. Well said :thumbup1:

Amen to that, OP.

Frankly, I'm a still a little surprised that a place like this exists within the (relatively) normal space-time continuum.

Normally the kind of behavior exhibited on these forums is reserved only for early-fifties sitcoms; clean, civil, and ideal. Although I have to admit I haven't checked on the "his-and-hers beds" situation.

Thank you everybody for making this such a wonderful place on the net to be.
