who sells knots other then TGN and how do they compare to name brand brushes

Does anyone sells knots other then tgn and also im gonna make my own brush out of a very nice piece of african black wood for like $35 then get a 30mm Silvertip Grade A for $45 so thats like $80 total but how does the tgn knot compare to a duke 2 or 3 in best badger or a semogue 730 hd silvertip or owners club. Is it better to buy a name brush or make one.

TGN is the only one I've found that compares to the name brand brushes.
Whipped Dog knots are good, too, but not quite up to par with the selections at TGN.

There are a bunch of various hobby places that sell them, but they are higher and not as good as TGN.

Knots thread

That thread has knots from TGN, WD, AceShaving and others. Look through it and see what each provider has to offer. I've been meaning to try a knot from Ace shaving because they look dense and are very inexpensive, just havent had the chance.

Edit:
I have no title at all?!

I have one TGN and two Whipped dog knots all of them silver tip. To me they feel almost the same but one of my Whipped Dogs fell apart I was loosing 10-15 hairs a shave. The other knot though has lost maybe 2 so it was just a dud and I must say the customer service was great and the knot was quickly replaced!

My whipped dog silvertip only shed about 3-4 hairs total after a month. And if you do happen to have a problem Larry will do what he can to make it right. Not up to the softness of a Grade A, but probably equal to most name brand knots.
