What's new

Which material should I cut scales from first???

OK so I went out this morning and bought a bunch of 1/8" stock material to mess around with.
Buffalo Bone, Acrylics, Polyesters, G10, Carbon Fiber and Reconstituted stone and some Abalone LVS-Black back....Which one first....???

Ray,

Are you going to start offering restoration services or just selling blanks?

"Or Just"...gzzzzzzzz

I think lots of folks would like blanks in many shapes, colors and materials. Lots of fellows don't have the equipment to cut but shaping and polishing can simply be done by hand at a kitchen table.

A few test shots.

Excuse me, I meant to say...

"...or expand your already extensive line of fine shaving accoutrements with the addition of a wide and diverse assortment of fully finished exotic materials which can be used to accessorize the vintage blade of the most discerning straight razor user?" :blushing:

This is a great idea Ray! (This is coming from one of those "Lots of fellows" :tongue_sm)

OK I decided to cut a few scale sets from patterns sent by Lou. The have only been cut. They will still need shaping and buffing and of course pin holes.

Check out the "Five Star General" in Acrylic Tortuose...:w00t:

Nice scales they look great. How much for a set of those silver ones done in abalone or the purple ones in the snake skin ( don't know what it is sorry)?

Ray - Does that fancy laser of yours have a fine enough footprint to emulate a scrimshaw effect on bone or mock Ivory?

Those abalone scales are awesome by the way.
