Which Ink Bottle Am I Thinking Of?

I remember seeing an ink bottle a while back that had a ball stopper and when you turned it upside down, it kept ink from flowing towards the lid. The ball stopper also allows the ink to flow into a reservoir for easier filling.

I did a quick search but was unable to find the bottle I am thinking of. I don't think it's a TWSBI ink bottle. Which ink bottle am I thinking of?

Are you thinking about the big vintage Script bottles for filling ink wells?

I don't think it was a vintage bottle. I'm pretty sure it was a modern one. I keep wanting to say it was a Mont Blanc ink bottle but I looked at those already and those aren't it. My memory isn't what it used to be; I'm getting old.

I just found this post by Doug:

The Levenger bottle actually looks like it would work better than the P.W. Akkerman bottle. When I get past the cool look of it and think about what it would be like to try and get the last bit of ink from around the marble even with a syringe the Akkerman seems less and less practical.
Sailor Jentle Ink has a similar system I recently found out about.

He mentions that Sailor Jentle ink bottles have a similar system to the P.W. Akkerman bottles. I'm going to check those out now.

The Sailor is only similar in that it has a little plastic well that fills to help filling the pen when the bottle gets low, similar to a Skrip-well bottle.

No ball though.

The sailor is small its a pen in the butt for me, the bottles would work better without the insert, unless you have a small nib even a full bottle can't fill certain pens of mine

I found a picture I took of the sailor bottle

This is with a cum laude you can just see, even with a full bottle and a full cup the feed is just not able to fully submerge, and once you try to fill the level lowers and nothing but air gets in, smaller pens and nibs like my wearever, 51 or my CH92 don't have the issue, but my coming 912, the Cum Laude, and my Conklin have trouble

Yeah, I guess you could pop the insert out for those big nibbed pens.

Sounds kinda messy ... :syn:

Is that a cat hair?

It is really astounding how well known Akkerman is across the world!

And then to think the shop is a few miles from my work! (and I only come there 2 or 3 times a year)
