I often see a lot of discussion on B&B about the MUHLE R41 razor and especially discussing the differences between the 2011 and 2013 redesigned head. With all the talk about this razor, I too have been interested in trying one out. Not wanting to go with something overly aggressive however, I naturally am interested in the most recent ("tamer") head design. It seems that searching online for "2013 Muhlr R41" doesn't give you any luck in terms of finding a vendor that distinctly advertises selling the newer design. Not wanting to take a risk at blindly purchasing one of the older more agressive models, I decided to go to the MUHLE and ask a question about what they currently stocked.
I submitted a message on the company's website, and received the following reply:
"thank you very much for your e-mail.
We have launched the redesigned version of the R41 razor in late 2011.
The former razor that is indeed a bit more aggressive than the refined version. We no longer sell the 2011 version and if you order now, you will be receiving the new design."
With this information, at least you know that you can buy the razor online at the MUHLE site and be sure to receive the newer design. I thought that others might also be interested in this info so that it takes out any chance of getting old stock from other sites, having to deal with doing measurements, and other inconveniences associated with not getting what you intended to.
