What are inexpensive, aggressive safety razors like the Muhle R41?

Isn't the Italian Barbers RazoRock Mentor head a zamek version of the R41 head? They also sell nice SS handles for a reasonable price. If someone can confirm thst it's an R41 clone that might be a more economical option than the real thing. Even if you end up not liking the head you'll still get a decent handle.

In the detailed Mentor razor reviews on the Italian Barber web site one of the posts noted that the Mentor shaved just like the R41. @Ramen_05 , you may want to look at the Razorock razors offered by Italian Barber like the Mentor that is currently available for under $20 U.S. and periodically a lot less during their periodic sale.

What Mühle R41? There were several iterations of it. The early one is what earned it the “Face Eater” reputation. I saw some people speculating that this may have been a design error.

The later versions were progressively less aggressive.

I have an R41 bought in 2019, it’s medium-aggressive or just above. It has a lot of felt presence, but isn’t all that hard to get a comfortable shave with. I’d say the closest cheap razor I found that is similar in performance and somewhat similar in feel is Maggard V3A (also sold as Yintal Bronze in a different finish).

I understand that around 2020-22 they made it even milder, so it’s probably just a medium aggressive razor now.

I went with a R41 head a stainless handle from Razorock.
But almost any handle will work, (except Fatip).

I would go with the Yaqi Top Aggressive Slant. Cheap as chips and for me definitely more efficient than the 41.
For me definitely more aggressive but the R41 is more efficient in my opinion.

IMHO the R41 is not aggrew, but f----n direct.
Used the right way the 41 gives a close direct and smooth shave.
As long as you're learning it might be a little but bloody experience, but the learning curve is very steep.

I would check out Maggards. They have an aggressive head that you can purchase separately or bundle with one of their handles. PAA also has what appear to be some aggressive looking slant razors. Maybe also an adjustable razor might work , dialed in on the most aggressive setting. 🤷‍♂️

I got a RazorRock Old Type with open comb from the Italian Barber for $20. I find it comparable to the R41 in terms of aggressiveness.

That looks like a whisker eater, nice one. The blades, one of my favorite in an r41, its sad they are no longer made

Lupo 127 OC better shaver aggressive and smooth around cap and base 80. 127 bar with handle 70 (slightly less aggressive, better shaver closer smoother then the 41)

Muhle has the replacement head for $25 and you can always get 15% off by applying the code they provide.
Razoremporium also has the replacement head and a 15% coupon as well.

Dscosmetic Z0 is a clone of the R41. Can be had in stainless, copper or titanium. All cheaper than the stainless R41.
