What's new

Where did everyone go?

Ever look through older threads and peoples profiles and notice how many members there are that havn't been online in years?

Do you think a lot of them may have quit wet shaving altogether or just the site?

I figured some people moved on from the site like what I've done with Facebook. Still have a Facebook account, but don't use it. The wife does though

If I look at my own behavior, I would guess that they probably just quit the site. When something is new to you, you want to talk about it, learn about it, share your experience. After a while, the enthusiasm dies down even though you may still participate in the activity. You're still doing it, you're just not talking about it. (or as much)

People come and go. It is the way of the internet. Interests shift.

Everyone still shaves (well maybe a few are bearded now) but the obsession fades.

Once you are gone for a short while it is hard to get back in the swing once again

I used to be a member of a few gaming forums. I found that if certain people left, others would too as a lot of sites are held together by the regular posters who'll always keep the forum going. If they leave and nobody is there taking that place then the site can slow down.

There are lots of people who don't post often who I know are still wetshaving. Sometimes you just move on.

i have also come across some in other forums that complain about "issues" that occurred here with the management that led to their departure.

I was gone over last summer and winter. I moved twice and started using my Braun Series-5 because I was in a situation where my wetshaving gear was packed away and I had to worry about other things. Well, I'm back now and the den is thinned out a bit, but I'm enjoying my shave once again and visiting on B&B.

I know of a member who disappeared for a while then came back and posted a pic of his outrageous beard and asked if he could still play.
Happens to us all at some point

One of the great things about B&B is that there is plenty of non-shaving related discussion for those who may not practice it, or maybe just taking a break from it.

I'm still here and think that many of the 'old salts' are, too. Life just got in the way of doing much posting. I expect to be somewhat more active in the future.

Probably just the site. Most people just join to ask a few questions and get some advice when starting out, then leave. Just do a member search of the members who have less than 10 posts. It's well over 50%, even excluding new members.

Members come and members go, even avid collectors and moderators. Some members and even Mods left on their own accord and some had issues that caused them to leave.

As for me I visit fairly often, but I am not a huge poster. I settled on a couple sub-forums and that is where I spend the majority of my time. I stick around because of the nature of the forum. I am an avid cyclist, but got tired of all the name calling and abuse that goes on in the cycling forums.

I decided long ago that I would spend my time in a place that would be relaxing and entertaining, not filled with drama and B+B fills that spot for me.

I'm one of those that came in and got "what I needed" and sort of left. Thought I would look in this afternoon and found this thread. I got lots of info, got a PIF, gave a PIF and just moved on. Still shaving and even found a new fave razor. An excellent condition Slim Adjustable for $20 and it's definitely my new fave.

Anyway, I'll be checking back in a bit more frequently again. I like B&B.

I've seen that on many forums. I'm a member to several car forums with over 2,000 posts on each of them. Forums just go thru fluctuations of participation. I went back to a forum about Birding that I hadn't been on since 2005 and they still had me as a member. Now I'm back and posting again.
From what I've seen of this forum I really like it and the group of people here. We all go thru seasons I guess.
