Where can I purchase a hone in NYC or NJ Area

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone knows of a local store or shop in NYC or NJ to but a hone possibly the Norton 4k 8k everyone recommends? If I find any place I will post it here. Thanks

They are easy to find on the internet.

However, that hone is a bit dated. The new boy on the block is the
Naniwa "Super" 3000/8000 combination hone.

If you are new to honing, do yourself a favour and get the Naniwa, it is easier to use for the new guy and actually puts a much better edge on the blade.

Thanks English. I like to buy things in person (I am impatient) so hoping to get one locally, I am new to honing and will get the Naniwa...was looking at those too and not sure which was better but glad you replied so now I know which to start with. I think I saw the Naniwa on SRD... Thanks again...

+1. I'm not quite a n00b anymore and still love the Naniwa edge.

Tom from Jendindustries ships from NJ. He handles the Shapton line of stones. If you contact him, you might be able to go directly to where he ships them from and pick them up.

Hi All,

Thank you everyone for your kind replies. Now I feel like I know what stone to get, a Naniwa, and even have a bunch of great resources in NYC, NJ and even Brooklyn to try. Thank you all. I plan to check out all vendors mentioned and I will report back my findings. Thanks again.

if you go to Korin, take your time and take a look at the knives they have there. You will find some amazing pieces, also if you have a chance take a look at Mr. Sugai's sharpening lesson. Its not razors but I bet it will be a great experience (its free if I am not wrong)
