Whats a good TTO open comb razor?

Getting hooked on the open comb razors. Great shaves, smooth and no irritation. Whats a good TTO open comb? The 3-piece can be a pain in the arse for blade change, especially with Astra SP's which have the 4 dots of wax on them.

The Gillette Senator is a good tto/oc razor. I might have to move mine back into my rotation

Got to agree with this, I wish I'd not sold mine. Still use my Sheraton occasionally but the gold wash is not as durable so it sits a lot.

Somehow I expected Tom to say that . . .

The Gem Open-Comb Micromatic is an outstanding razor - but it does have a bit of a learning curve attached to it!

For DE, +1 to the Sheraton/Senator pair - my Sheraton (with all its gold worn off) is my favorite open comb.

I regretted selling my Senator but that's why I have another one on the way. My favorites TTO OC are:
-30's American OC Aristocrat
-Senator/Sheraton
-#15 Aristocrat
The #15 is the best of the lot (IMHO). It's extremely smooth with the effectiveness of an an OC. It's also one of the best looking razors out there.

I love my Senator, but I prefer the shave of the #15. I suspect it the heft of the razor that puts it over the top. However, whether it is worth four or five times as much as a Senator is debatable.

The 1934 & #15 aristocrats are my dream razors. At some point I will own them. I can't see any better combo than open comb, TTO, and bulldog handle!

Can't argue with any of those. In fact I started a plot line some time ago at another site on a Senator and a Sheraton ... love those 30s OCTTOs!

The Gillette Sheraton, from the late 1930's.

The Segal from the 1930's.

But the Segal will require a 3 minute hassle of carefully trimming the center of the DE blade slightly with curved scissors while wearing eye protection. The blade trimming procedure is necessary for a conventional blade to be installed on this unique razor. It's well worth it, though.

Both razors are outstanding, but the Segal generally is a lot less money on ebay.
