What type of trimmer for stubble?

Hello,

So I got a new beard trimmer off ebay, one of the cheap knurled metal ones with the lithium-ion battery. This trimmer is okay but I want a shorter stubble so I tried zero-gapping the blade but it has an indent around the adjustment screws which prevents me from getting it too close.

I need a new trimmer for shorter stubble that is cheap (sub $50) and will allow me to micro adjust the length, I was also considering a foil shaver for a closer one length shave.

Also I'm in Australia.

Thoughts or recommendations?

I use a trimmer made by Conair (model # GMT980). I searched on Amazon but it looks like it isn't regularly sold in Australia. I like it because when the guide is in place, the settings are electronic and have a lot of choices. I flip the guide out of the way when I'm going through several days of growth before using a blade or if I have a beard to trim the edges. It's $44 (US) right now but $170 AUD. (I changed servers in my VPN to make Amazon think I was in Brisbane. Now I feel like getting a Fosters and putting another shrimp on the barbie.)
