What's new

What straight did you use today? Now with PICTURES

Same setup as yesterday. That shave was underwhelming so I took this edge back to 3k and finished on a Naniwa 12k. Better but still nothing special.

Nice looking razor! Have you measured the bevel angle. I have a few razors that I can't get from nothing special to special. I suspect that in my case the razors need additional tape.

Factory Edge

Comfortable shave. Not bad for factory edge.

I fell away from the hobby side of shaving for awhile.I tried to go back to DE but couldn’t get used to the feel it left my face.So even when the hobby side was gone I still used The SR.

This is my first and only true wedge, and it takes me 2 layers of tape to hone it. With 2 layers the bevel is 23 degrees which is very much on the high side... I need to do some reading on how to hone a wedge. I've struggled with this one ever since I got it.

Most people honing wedges underhone them and the bevel might not be set. Could be close but not there yet. The edge is created when the bevel is set. Keep in mind, there is a lot more steel which needs to be removed if we compare it to a hollow grind. Also, tape is not necessary.
