@2bit_collie - congratulations on 1 year in - it only gets better from here on out.
My version of the Sunday shaver, a Heljestrand M.K. ‘31-1/2’, an M.K. 32 with moderate hone wear and some corrective honing. It shaves perfectly of course, and this razor’s condition always amazes me. The M.K. series in ivory were not made after 1939, so this razor is quite old as well as having seen considerable use. But so surprisingly, there was no tarnish, patina, rust, or pitting! Whoever wore the edge down loved the razor enough to care for it properly, it was obviously perfectly cleaned after every use.
Soap was tallow Tabac lathered with a Tulip 2, and a splash of Myrsol AB finished up a great Sunday morning shave.
I just used the Bull again today. I am REALLY starting to enjoy these Filarmonica 14s with a grind that is slightly more stout (the Bull and the EPBD).
Dahlgren. Maybe not the closest shave, which I wasn't going for anyway, but zero irritation. That horse brush didn't hurt either. A little harder to load but like a gentle whisper on the skin.
Old picture re-edited, because I was in a flaming hurry this morning. Fastest 3 pass shave to date, I think. 15 minutes from loading the brush to slapping on aftershave, and 95% BBS to boot.
Friodur 17 ½ | Simpson Keyhole 4 Best | Barrister and Mann Nordost | Terre d'Hermès — Fantastic shave. I sure do love that Nordost scent. Sadly the splash is apparently unobtanium.
