What shave cream would you recommend?

I have the unenviable position of acquiring a birthday gift for my wife's much younger ex-con brother. Last time I saw him it was obvious that his beard was beginning to become more full. Anyways...

I picked up a starter kit for ~$35USD with a DE razor, badger brush, plastic stand, and styptic pencil.
What very inexpensive cream would everyone recommend for a beginner with no obvious predilection to change his routine?

Thanks in advance!

If your close to a Bath and Body Works, I would suggest a tube of C.O. Bigelow. It pretty much the same as the green Proraso, and it should be aaorund $10.00 a tube

Toothpick

Needs milk and a bidet!
Proraso cream is great. It is packaged under the brand "C.O. Bigelow" and can be purchased at Bath & Body Works. Also, Cella cream is inexpensive, but you'd likely have to get it off the net, unless you have a wetshaving store in your area.

Bigelow is really a foul proof cream, great for someone just starting out. It's easy to lather. I can't think of any negatives about it. except that it's a gateway cream to the world of better creams and soaps!

They sell it in the can as well, so maybe get both the tube and the can. Then he'll have no excuses.

I may just visit a random shopping mall and check out a Bath and Body Works. I have used the Proraso white and enjoyed it. For what looks to be a $6USD investment, a tube of Bigelow should fit the bill nicely. Thanks again.

It's $10 a tube but they always run buy 2 get one free. They also sell small tubes for $5 ea. Same deal. The larger tube is a much better deal.

If you have a Rite Aid near you, they may have the Real Shaving Co cream for $6 or $7. Not much of a scent but good performance, it's made by Creighton's which also make some of the bigger British brands.

I don't want to turn him off of wet shaving. I'm going to pass on some of my sampler blades, but the real motivator to change will probably be the shaving cream I think. He'll probably stick with the goo and a fusion if he can't figure it out (which is possible).

Williams could be problematic depending on the hardness/softness of his local water... Bigelow is a solid choice...

I was hinting at a play on "mug shot" because he referenced the recipient as an individual with whom societal rules did not agree.

But Bigelow IS good. I don't disagree with that! :)
