What razor was issued at Parris Island in 1966

Does anyone remember what razor the USMC issued to the recruits in 1966? I know it was a Gillette double edge but I can't remember the model. I thought it was in the case with the magnifier glass but I doubt the USMC would spring for fat boys. I may have bought one of those later. Just wondering if anyone remembers. Thanks

It almost certainly wasn't a Fatboy as those razors had long been out of production by '66. If it was a Gillette, the only choices were the Slim, the Superspeed, the Knack, and the Tech. Oh, and the Lady Gillette. Probably not the Lady, I'd guess. :001_tt2:

Wow, the Marines were issued razor's? We in the Army were not issued sharp objects:sad:, except for the P-38's that came in a C-Rats box.

When I was in basic training in the Army, Ft. Leonard Wood, MO. I used a silver colored Gillette Tech. I don't remember if it was issued or not, but I know it was "approved" and part of the foot locker display subject to inspection. This was in 1961.

In the navy around the same time, my dad was issued a long black handled super speed....I use it everyone in awhile

I don't remember if we were issued them or if we had to buy them at the PX, but we all had them. We had those John Waynes also and they worked better than some electric can openers I've had over the years.

I went for USAF basic Dec of 68. We were not issued any shaving equipment, nor a couple of months later for OTS.
