What percentage of Frags are strictly "For Me"

I have lost count of how many 1-4ml samples I have tried and most have smelled very nice but only a handful have gotten compliments from my olfactory-enhanced Wife. For every one I like I get at least 2 "Smells like Lysol." Maybe I'm blessed to think a semi-warm MRE smells good?

How many other guys wear frags just for themselves?

..and just a note, I am finally learning that the Wife likes almost every vetiver I've tried and still digs the Fahrenheit she got me in 1989. I have nursed that bottle for very special occasions. :wink2:

I am single with no real prospects at the moment. All of the cologne I wear is for me.

Although I do try to avoid scents that are really "loud" when at work. :001_tongu

Almost every fragrance I wear is "for me". Everything I buy a full bottle of is something that I personally enjoy. I pick my daily fragrance based on what mood I'm in that morning. If my wife really hates something, I'll avoid wearing it at home. Fortunately, our tastes are similar enough that it's rarely an issue.

Almost all are for me at this point.

...SWMBO wants me to pick one and wear it all the time (keeps telling me to quit wearing so many different things and find a "signature scent"). She just doesn't get it. Variety is the spice...:001_unsur

My wife got that upgrade as well. I apply aftershave when she's out of the bathroom. She hasn't particularly liked either bay rum I've used.

She seems to like the vetiver bath soap I'm using at the moment, any suggestions for aftershaves/colognes?

Been down the road of trying to please the Mrs. with the frag hobby which didn't go too well. She liked 1-2 of the first 100 or so I sampled and it drove me crazy trying to please her. Then I realized its my hobby, not hers.

I have a few bottles on hand of stuff she loves and I will wear those when we spend intimate time together such as ditching the kids for date night.

Aside from those occasions when I wear something specifically for her, I wear what I want and what I like. Win win.

To please others I wear nothing. That's generally what I wear to please me as well :) The mild scent of aftershave balm or shaving soap or shampoo/conditioner is my idea of a fragrance.

three-tu-tu, three-tu-tu
SWMBO quickly grew weary of me asking (with extended wrist) "how do you like this one?" This is a mystery to me. It takes all of three seconds and I'd love a vote on how she smells - but that's just me.

She likes anything citrus and Old Spice. Thankfully GIT was a winner, as well as Rochas Man, Acqua di Parma Colonia and Burbery London. There were a few we both disliked intensely - which was fortuitous.

Some of my favorites - Eau des Baux, Back to Black, TF Vetiver and Spicebomb - were met with very faint praise (to be generous). While this is often fine, there is something I want from her that I'm much less likely to get if she doesn't appreciate how I smell - so this is no small consideration.

I guess we all have to sacrifice for our addictions.

All are for me. Usually my wife likes my choices. She never tires of smelling my wrists or neck, she likes the scent discovery too.

I tried the whole "find a signature scent that my wife loves" experiment....didn't go as I had planned, lol. I tried hundreds of decants, she hated most and said that the majority of them smelled like "bug spray". Silly woman, doesn't she know how expensive and niche this fragrance was? What was she thinking? What I realized is that I was applying the fragrance and immediately asking her to smell, not giving the scent time to dry down and evolve. The frag that she hated that morning, she would compliment later that day. Moral of the story....let it dry down before asking SWMBO to give an opinion.

I also learned that I LOVE fragrances, and she's indifferent...as long as it doesn't repulse her, I'm good. This hobby is really subjective, what I love she might hate, and other's might love right along with me. So, I wear what I like most days and reserve what she likes for times that we're spending the day or evening together. Seems to be working

I wear what I like. She likes most of what I like anyway. She's not picky. I frankly don't care what anyone else thinks because the only ones that should smell it are the ones very close to me. Nothing worse than the over application of cologne.

I mad a habit of wearing frags everyday strictly for me, just for the fact of knowing i smell nice when i go out. Never really got compliments from anyone, but i'd hate to be the plain blane anywhere i go. So i guess that makes them for me?

i'm single so every cologne is just for me. but i do take note when someone of the opposite sex says i smell good then that cologne will move to the front.
