  • Face lather?

  • Bowl lather?

  • Super lather in a bowl (soap + cream)?

  • Uber lather in a bowl (soap + cream + glycerine)?

  • Super-stick lather (face lather with a shave stick and soap)?

You can choose more than one option.

If you lather your soaps a different way (super lather on your face) tell us in a post.

When I first get a soap I bowl lather it to check it out.
If I don't like it then I sell it.

If I like it then I bowl lather the soap with a little cream.
That way I get to use up more product and get the cream to help the lather building.

Strictly face lather, unless it's a soap with known lathering problems, then I'll add some KMF unscented shaving cream and lather in a bowl.

For soap if I am home I always bowl lather. My first time using a soap in rotation it's strictly soap but subsequently it's Uberlather.

I guess I use a combination. Most of the time I face lather, but sometimes, to reload the brush, I'll whip some up in the soap container.

Both but for the most part I bowl lather. I've said it before, I consider myself an equal opportunity latherer.

I've really taken to face lathering soaps although I still fill up my scuttle and have it setting on the counter to place my brush during my passes. I almost always bowl lather creams, but I think the main reason I face lather soaps is because after spending the time to load the brush, I'm ready to get it on my face.... rather than spend anymore time building the lather in a bowl or scuttle. With creams, I like to build the lather in the bowl because I have more control over it.... but with soaps it's so easy to just run the brush under the faucet if I need more water or take a few swirls on the puck with my brush if I need more soap because the lather is too thin. I almost never to uberlathers and superlathers.

Strictly face lather, mostly soaps. Creams now see use once a month. Never tried super or uber and have no desire to. Leftover sticks are transferred to bowl before use.

Face lather everything. Occasional superlather on the face to add some scent to boring soaps, but not a routine.

I face or bowl lather depending on the soap, brush and my mood. I Super-lather two soaps/creams - EJ Sandalwood and TOBS Jermyn St. I face lather DRH, MWF, and Tabac soaps. I also face lather Italian croaps. I prefer to bowl lather French and German veggie soaps. I bowl lather soaps that I'm not familiar with. If the brush I'm using is versatile, I prefer to face lather with it.

I've face lathered everything for the last month. No going back now as I smashed my sample of panna crema into my bowl to help discourage reverting! I've tried superlathering a few times, Arko on the face, panna crema on the brush, and ogalla bay rum on the face and green tea / oat proraso tub on the brush. I wasn't overly impressed with the results, but it isn't for everyone!

I tried Mantic59's tips for lathering MWF and found that they work pretty well with AOS sandalwood as well so they're my every other day face lathers.

I do sort of a combination of face and mug lathering for hard puck soaps. Obviously I face lather sticks. I bowl lather creams, I find it hard to face-lather a cream and since I can keep a bowl on my vanity I really don't see where face lathering creams saves much time or space.

I have always bowl lathered. I have tried face lathering, but bowl lathering feels the most natural to me. A little surprised face lathering is dominating tbh. To each their own! :001_smile
