What Is the Current Consensus on Floris Shaving Soaps?

I know that when Floris reformulated their shaving soaps, the general feeling was that the new soaps were not worth the cardboard they were sold in. Then, I saw some chatter that Floris may have improved the reformulation. I am basing this solely on information I have read on Badger and Blade -- I have not tried Floris shaving soaps and do not have any "inside" information.

For people who have tried Floris shaving soaps since the reformulation, what is your current opinion? Is anyone here currently using the new Floris and loving it?

I have 2 bowls and 2 pucks of the old soaps. I cannot give you a comparison.

Sorry, I haven't used either. I would really like to see some input about them. I have a good number of soaps I really like but I am now down to filling niches in scent, oddities, etc. Floris has some soap scents that are supposed to be good but I want some performance input before I lay down the dough. I may be all wrong but it seems as if there was some controversy over consistency or performance of the veggie based Floris when they first came out.

Interesting. While not many votes are in, not a single person who has voted thinks Floris is a great soap anymore. Sad that such a well respected soap had to ruin their product voluntarily. Are you listening Penhaligon's? This is like New Coke all over again.

More accurately, four people who used to use Floris now think the new formulation is an abomination.

I use Floris soap and I think it is superb. But the OP wasn't fishing for my opinion; I never used the original formulation.

There are any number of explanations for the lack of response to this thread, including the possibility that people are over it, are using it and just don't care any more.

It's a bit odd asking for a consensus around here anyway.

I am so glad I was able to get a few of the old formulation English Fern's. Is it a cost issue with the tallow or something else?

I believe Jim's words were, something to the effect of: "from the pinnacle of shaving to the crapper"...I'm paraphrasing a bit but when a guy who spends enough time on an online forum to build a shave soap compendium of the magnitude that he has thinks this about a particular soap, I tend to listen to him!

He would be the first to say that! But that said, have you seen his soap compendium? Do you know of Jim's work? Granted...there might be someone out there that thinks it provides a good shave...but at some point, you have to pick sides

I’m not sure what your point is here.

I have not only seen Jim’s compendium, I’ve read it. Several times! I do appreciate that Jim is a respected member of this community, (and a moderator!).

I bought a puck of the Floris soap last month and I like it.
