With all the talks of silvertip, two-band and boar the lowly pure badger is never mentioned much. What is the best pure badger brush out there? I have tried a few but they are either floppy or shed like a cat. So which is the epitome of pure badger goodness?
I haven't tried many, but I think the Rooney 3/1 in Pure is very nice (and the same knot in other handles is presumably just as good). It's got a nice exfoliating scritchiness, but without the excessive abrasiveness that you get from a lot of the cheaper ones.
Got to admit for me it's my Simpson Eagle G1. It's as soft as my Duke 2 in finest, not at all floppy and not too scrubby. A great handle in the G1 size aswell. Price aint too bad either. Lathers both soaps, sticks and creams equally with no problems. Did have a funky smell for a long time though, all gone now.
Its available at specialists shaving stores here in Aus. It's English made and made by the famous makers of Mason Peraon hair brushes.
I have used mine for 15 years and it just keeps getting better. I havent treated it gently either and it still looks and works great. It's got the softest Pure Badger Hair ever and handle is the best designed handle there is. It's a no nonsense, no fuss brush and it just keeps getting better with age.
