What Have I Just Bought ????

It is a Single Ring Old Type also known as a Standard. I'm not sure that it is the correct blade case, though.

Then again, perhaps it is. It looks like there should be a second blade case, as well. Should be from the mid to late 1910's

Thanks Guido, did i get a good deal f0r £15.50 GBP what do they normally go for ?

Also was considering getting this, but im not sure what type it is or if will clean up well (don't know if it's just dirt or the Plating is all messed up):

Yes. I would say that is a good deal for a nice piece of history.

The second razor appears to be a President and it should clean up nicely. They are highly sought after razors from the 1950's.

That looks like a late 40's American Aristocrat:

[Edit: For some reason it was looking goldish to me. Guido's probably right, though it does appear to be mssing an endcap.]

If you like it, then you got a good deal. :thumbup1:

I actually recently bought a similar set up for $20 US. Most of the sets (Nickel case with standard old type) I was seeing at the time were going for about that. Your deal turns out to be about $25 US, so you're in the ballpark. There could also be some geographic variance as well.

I say, don't worry about the price. Enjoy the razor.

Thanks once again Guido, (your knowledge blows me away ! like a walking encyclopedia man !!!)

Hope mine both clean up well

Will post some pics after i get em and clean em

Thanks for the help and guidance guys, in the UK its alot harder to come by these lovely razors, Antique shops don't have them, at Car Boot Sales you find Techs if your lucky (And Rolls Razors of course) so sometimes E-Bay is the Only Way.

Wish i had all the Chances you guys have of finding them in Antique Shops for just a Few Dollars, some of your Finds are stunning !!!

It's hard to tell about the blade case. But there should be two. This is the 460-B standard. Achim shows the older cases with the raised edges and the logo on the side. My set made in 1916 has the two blade cases flat at the edges and the logo on top as this set does. I suppose this could be a transition period when Gillette had a stock of both styles.
