I have a Gillette New long comb and am planning on buying a short comb as well. I don't care for either the bar or ball end handles, though.
I'd like to put different handles on them without spending a huge amount of money. I tried fitting a Matador Toro Mastiff, which threads well but is a little too wide at the neck and doesn't seem to seat properly. I don't know if adding a washer or a nut would fix this and still look halfway decent/not get lost down the drain when I was changing a blade.
I'm thinking of trying to find a pair of Gillette Tuckaway handles with the diamond perforation patterns, but I don't know if they would have problems seating properly as well.
The other option was getting custom handles, from UFO (like a Kaiser short, which would be very nice but expensive, and apparently the red bronze requires detarnishing every few months?) or maybe Bob's Razor Works (the Toro Mastiff handle design but hopefully with a neck width that is narrow enough to seat well).
Has anyone tried the Tuckaway handles (or knows the neck width) or has a different suggestion?
Many thanks!
